LIST: Class suspensions on Aug. 1, 2016 due to ‘Carina’
(Updated) Some local government units announced on Sunday that classes will be suspended in their areas due to heavy rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm “Carina” (international name: Nida).
Classes on Monday, August 1, have been suspended in the following areas (Please refresh this page for updates):
- Isabela province: Pre-school to high school
- Cagayan province: All levels in northern Cagayan (towns of Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Sta. Teresita, Buguey, Aparri, Lal-lo, Camalaniugan, Allacapan, Ballesteros, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez Mira, Claveria, Sta. Paxedes, Calayan, Lasam, Gattaran and Rizal); pre-school to senior high school in the rest of the province
The state weather bureau, in its 11 a.m. weather bulletin on Sunday, said that Carina was packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 120 kph.
The severe tropical storm was last located 160 kilometers east southeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
It is expected to make landfall in Northern Cagayan on Sunday afternoon.
