The weather bureau is tracking a low pressure area (LPA) near Pangasinan, but forecasters said there was a small chance of it becoming a cyclone.

The LPA was last tracked 195 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday morning.

“For now, we can say that the LPA won’t intensify but we are monitoring developments,” Obet Badrina of Pagasa told INQUIRER.net by phone.

In Quezon City, where President Rodrigo Duterte will deliver his first State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa, Badrina said thunderstorms were possible in the afternoon.

“Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over the entire archipelago,” Pagasa said.
