Naia main runway reopens to air traffic

THE main runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was reopened to air traffic late Monday night.

Manila International Airport Authority manager Ed Monreal said that the runway was back in service at 10:35 p.m. after undergoing repairs.

Earlier, airport authorities implemented emergency runway closure due to a small crack on runway 06/24 to avoid damage to aircraft.

To cope with expected influx of diverted flights, MIAA will forego its regular runway cleaning usually done daily from 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m., airport authorities said.
