Did you know: 1st national elections in PH held on Sept. 16, 1935

THE FIRST national election in the Philippines was held on Sept. 16, 1935.

Then Senate President Manuel L. Quezon won by a landslide versus President Emilio Aguinaldo and Bishop Gregorio Aglipay.

At present, under the 1987 Constitution, elections should be held on the second Monday of May. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
