Honasan vows safer PH if elected VP
UNITED Nationalist Alliance (UNA) vice presidential candidate Senator Gringo Honasan promised the electorate that he will fight for a safer Philippines once he is elected as the next vice president.
During Sunday’s debate at the University of Santo Tomas where six hopefuls battled it out, Honasan said that as vice president, he will act as a co-pilot and will be helpful in ensuring security in all aspects—including food security and economic security.
“Ang vice president po ay hindi spare tire kundi co-pilot.”
“I will help in security, in the generic sense, kahit sino man ang presidente, ano man ang posisyon, hindi ko kailangan. Job security, food security, security from profit, security for OFWs, security from criminals, rapists, drug pushers, kidnappers, riding in tandem and terrorists—ganon po ang plano ko,” he said.
The senator, who has been lagging behind various opinion polls, touted his accomplishments as a soldier and a legislator in pitching himself for the job.

Kaya kailangan umuwi tayo sa isang bansa, isang pamilya na malaya, malakas at ligtas palagi,” the senator said.
After the debate, Honasan turned down any media interview. He was escorted out of the venue with his running-mate Vice President Jejomar Binay in tow.
