Classes, work suspended after bomb threat hits AdMU

The Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU)-Loyola Heights campus was hit by a bomb threat on Monday morning.

AdMU student newspaper The Guidon tweeted that students and faculty members were escorted out of the buildings at about 9 a.m.

They were then asked to assemble at the Bellarmine Field and the university’s baseball field.

Members of the Quezon City Police District Explosive Ordnance Division and the Bureau of Fire Protection have been deployed to the university to investigate the incident.

AdMU Vice President for Loyola Schools John Paul Vergara has suspended work and classes for Monday due to the bomb threat.

“We are officially calling off classes and work. We went with the evacuation procedures,” Vergara was quoted as saying.

Students were also asked not to return to the buildings and have been instructed to leave the campus on foot.

In its official statement, the university authorities said that the bomb threat was received at about 8:30 a.m.

QCPD Explosive Ordnance Disposal and QC station 9 police were asked to sweep the grounds and the buildings.

“A bomb threat was received by the University at around 8:30 am today. The Security office immediately requested the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and QC station 9 bomb squads to send units to sweep the grounds and buildings. At the moment a thorough inspection is being conducted.”

“All buildings are have been evacuated. Classes in all levels are cancelled starting 10am. Parents are asked to pick up their children at the designated emergency pick up points.”   AJH
