Woman tourist kills swan after grabbing it for a selfie–report

A photo of a female tourist dragging a swan out of a lake in Macedonia has been going viral since Wednesday morning.

The woman was pictured grabbing the helpless bird by the wing and pulling it out of the water for a photo opportunity.

Photographs used in online sites and social media showed the woman dressed in jeans and a black coat smiling for the camera, while the visibly panicked bird tried to flee from her grasp.

The swan reportedly died shortly after the tourist left it motionless on the beach.

Locals described how the swan did not react to the woman walking up to it, as the birds are used to the presence of tourists visiting their area near the small town of Ohrid.

A similar incident was also reported less than two weeks ago in Argentina, where a baby dolphin died near shore while beach-goers also passed it around for selfies.
