Church looks for model family

/ 12:40 AM February 24, 2016

BACOLOD CITY—The search is on for a poor family who works to spread the Gospel and brings hope to others.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines’ Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (ECFL) and Marriage Encounter Foundation of the Philippines jointly launched the nationwide Search for Outstanding Families 2016 at the close of the Post Synodal Conference on the Family at Business Inn here last week.

“The award seeks to recognize families who are responsive to the Gospel values. It particularly hopes to give honor to the materially poor, who by their example show us the story of the poor Christ whose poverty enriches us,” said Daet Bishop Gilbert Garcera, ECFL chair.

At least 252 delegates from the 87 dioceses of the Philippine Catholic Church participating in the conference have been tapped to help in the search.

The dioceses will nominate their respective candidate family for the award. Carla P. Gomez, Inquirer Visayas
