Search on for outstanding teacher of Filipino who made a difference
THE SEARCH is on for outstanding teachers in Filipino who have made considerable strides in promoting the language in the community.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro said the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) has opened its annual nationwide search for teachers who not only “exhibited exemplary skills, know-how and dedication in the promotion of the Filipino language and culture through teaching” but also made significant contributions in language and cultural studies.
In his memorandum to private and public school heads, Luistro said nominees to the KWF’s Ulirang Guro sa Filipino 2016 must be licensed teachers working full-time at a school either as a Filipino teacher or someone utilizing the Filipino language as a medium of instruction for at least three years.
The nominees must at least have a “very satisfactory” performance rating.
They must also have contributed to the promotion of the Filipino language in their respective regions either through research, publications or seminars.
The schools have until June 17 to send their nominees to the Sentro ng Wika at Kultura located in their province or region. Winners will receive a medal and certificate.
