Grenade hurled at NGO office in Cotabato City; no one hurt
COTABATO CITY – Unidentified men riding on a motorbike on Tuesday night, tossed a hand grenade at the office of a non-government organization helping families displaced by armed conflict in Maguindanao, police said.
It was the second grenade attack in the city in February, according to police.
Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, Cotabato City police director, said the 7:30 p.m. blast injured no one but scared residents of Barangay Poblacion 2.
Initial investigation showed the grenade was lobbed at the office of Mindanao Tulong Bakwet, a non-government organization helping displaced families displaced by the armed conflict in Maguindanao and nearby provinces.
Witnesses said two men riding tandem on a motorbike tossed the MK-2 hand grenade and quickly sped away.
Police investigators found the safety lever and fragments at the blast site.
