3.9 magnitude quake jolts parts of Bicol
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — A 3.9-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the Bicol region on Thursday night, but disaster response officials did not receive any report of damage or casualty following the ground shaking.
In a text message, Dr. Renato Solidum, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) chief, said the quake’s epicenter was traced at 81 kilometers northeast of Sorsogon City and struck at 6:19 p.m.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Legazpi City, Sorsogon City and Prieto Diaz in Sorsogon, and Intensity 2 in Bulan, Sorsogon. At Intensity 3, many people indoors felt the shaking but hardly anybody outside felt it. At Intensity 2, only people at rest or on the upper floors of a building would feel the shaking. SFM
