2 soldiers hurt in Compostela Valley explosion
MANILA, Philippines – Two soldiers were wounded in a landmine explosion in Compostela Valley before dawn Wednesday, a police spokesman said.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that a landmine exploded in Sitio (suv-village) San Miguel, Barangay (village) Kidawa, Laak town, Compostela Valley at around 4 a.m., injuring two soldiers from the 60th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.
The injured soldiers were rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment, he said.
The soldiers were conducting combat operations in the area when the explosion occurred, Cruz explained.
