Senators to file case vs. people behind chopper deal
MANILA, Philippines — Senators will file a case on Thursday at the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the second-hand helicopters sold as brand new to the Philippine National Police in 2009.
But before the filing of the case, the Senate blue ribbon committee headed by Senator Teofisto Guingona III will hold a press conference first in the Senate to release the findings of its investigation.
“After the press conference, Senator TG Guingona with other senators will file the appropriate complaint with the Office of the Ombudsman against the people who conspired and took part in the anomalous transactions,’ said the media advisory sent to reporters on Wednesday.
Various personalities, including former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, have been implicated during the Senate inquiry.
Arroyo was pointed by some witnesses as the alleged owner of the used choppers. He repeatedly denied the allegation.
