Sonsona’s foe arrives tonight

SAMMY Gello-ani’s SGG Promotions has announced that Carlos “El Relampago” Jacobo of Mexico will arrive in Cebu at 7:10 tonight via Cathay Pacific exactly five days before the fight. He will then proceed to Diamond Suites & Residences where he is billeted.

He will be flying to Manila together with Promoter Sammy Gello-ani and his opponent, the comebacking Marvin Sonsona on Wednesday for the national press conference at Ayala Center in Makati which will be hosted by TV5 and will be back in the evening.

Official weigh-in will be on Oct. 14, 2011 at Diamond Suites and Residences at 10 a.m. to be followed by the regional press conference.

Sonsona will face Jacobo of Mexico at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-lapu City on Oct. 15.

Sonsona (14W-1L-1D, 12 KOs), the 21-year-old southpaw and former world champion from Gen. Santos City, has not fought since Feb. 27, 2010, when he was stopped in four rounds by Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Jacobo (14W-3L-1D, 12 KOs) is a former Mexican superbantamweight champion and last April 16, won the vacant WBC Fecombox title by 5th round TKO against Ulises Cadena.
