Los Demonyos, Idols dispute 7th IBP hoop crown this Saturday
LOS Demonyos edged defending champion Pecandela Law Firm, 61-60 in overtime while league-leader Super Idols routed Pañeros, 56-38, last Saturday to advance to the finals of the 7th IBP-2011 Governor’s Cup basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
The winner-take-all finale is slated this Saturday.
Los Demonyos and Pecandela engaged in a close battle from the opening buzzer until the end of regulation with the score tied at 56-all. But in the overtime period, Los Demonyos outscored Pecandela, 5-4 for the heart-stopping victory.
Richard Bauzon led Los Demonyos with 18 points while Art Flores, Lito Ortiz and Edward Bauzon added 11 each. Mark Russ Gamallo paced Pecandela with 11 markers.
In the main game, Super Idols dominated Pañeros from start to finish to seal the 18-point rout despite the absence of injured big man Erwin Heyrosa.
Benjo Macion and Fermin Pepito led Super Idols with 19 and 17 points, respectively, while Ting Ordeniza paced Pañeros with 10 markers.
