Stude hurt, man killed in two city shootings

A night high school student was wounded while an unidentified man was killed in two separate shooting incidents in Cebu City last Saturday night.

Junaro Arites, a 27-year-old 4th year student of the Inayawan Night High School, sustained a gunshot wound in the neck after an unidentified assailant shot him when he went out of school after his 7:30 p.m. class.

Police said the wounded Arites managed to run away from his assailant and collapsed near the school.

A scavenger, who saw the wounded Arites lying on the ground, rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was treated for his wounds.

A few hours later at past 10 p.m. in barangay Pardo, Cebu City, an unidentfied man was shot dead by two unidentified assailants.

Police said residents in the area saw the victim being chased by two armed men, who were riding a blue motorcycle.

The assailants, who were armed with handguns, shot dead the victim, who was hit in the back  and body.

They fled after shooting the victim, whom police  described  as standing 5’3’’, with brown complexion, had a  tattoo on both arms, wore a yellow T-shirt and black short pants.

Police were still investigating the shooting incidents.
