TODAY, Oct. 19, is the 54th death anniversary of former President Sergio Osmeña. Born on Sept. 9, 1878, he was elected Vice President of the Commonwealth government in 1935. Osmeña became President after Manuel Quezon’s death in 1944 up to the national elections of 1946. He died in 1961 at Veterans Memorial Hospital and interred at Manila North Cemetery.
