A stalwart of the Liberal Party (LP) on Tuesday said that the challenge of Senator Grace Poe to other aspiring presidential candidates, including administration bet Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, to give way and become vice president, was “illogical.”
LP political affairs chief and Caloocan 2nd district Representative Edgar Erice said that Roxas is more experienced and more able than Poe in running the country.
“It’s illogical since we choose on the parameters of integrity, competence, and experience. So, we had no doubt about the integrity of Sen. Poe but I think, I personally think that she needs more experience to run a country like Mar,” Erice said.
The LP stalwart said that it is better for Poe to become Roxas’ vice president so that she can gain more experience.

On Monday, Poe turned the table and dared people who are asking her to run for vice president to answer the same question that they hurl at her.
“Sinasabi ng iba, siguro huwag mo na isipin na tumakbo sa mataas na posisyon at hahatiin mo ang boto. Hindi ba puwedeng tanungin din naman sa kanila iyon?” Poe said.
(Others are saying, ‘Maybe you should not run for higher office because you would only divide the vote.’ Can they also ask the same question to themselves?)

Poe is facing a complaint before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) asking her to be unseated from the Senate due to her allegedly questionable citizenship.
The senator has been the frontrunner in preference polls for the country’s next president, followed by Binay and Roxas.
She has been invited by Roxas as his VP on live television but has yet to finalize her plans for the 2016 elections. IDL
