COA chief gets nod of CA panel

MANILA, Philippines — A panel of the Commission on Appointments (CA) has recommended the confirmation of Gracia Pulido-Tan as chairperson of the Commission on Audit (COA) for plenary approval.

No member of the CA’s committee on constitutional commission and offices objected when Senator Franklin Drilon moved for Tan’s confirmation on Wednesday.

Only one opposed– a certain Marcelo Tecson, faced the confirmation hearing to block Tan’s nomination, citing what he described as “fallacious abolition of the COA pre-audit.”

But some members thumbed down the opposition, one saying the issue had nothing to do with the qualification and fitness of the nominee.
