120,000 noncommissioned policemen urged to support Marquez
The top noncommissioned police officer has urged all 120,000 policemen with ranks from PO1 to SPO4 to support the new chief of the Philippine National Police, Director General Ricardo Marquez, particularly in his promise of rewarding deserving policemen and punishing scalawags in the police force.
A day after Marquez took office as PNP’s leader, Chief Executive Senior Police Officer (CESPO) SPO4 Juanito Dimaculangan encouraged his fellow noncommissioned officers to rally behind Marquez, whose first program was to bring more policemen on the streets.
One of Marquez’s first orders was to implement the immediate and systematic dispersal of personnel from the national, regional and provincial offices to the police stations.
“We are advocating to all PNCOs from PO1 to SPO4 to give conscious efforts in rendering service and follow the Chief PNP’s program and directive,” said Dimaculangan in a statement.
Majority of policemen in the front lines are noncommissioned officers.
SPO2 Eric Fernandez, a PNCO from the PNP Public Information Office, said their morale was boosted when Marquez said in his assumption speech: “Sa buong kapulisan, let me be very clear: Do your job well and you will be rewarded. If you are threatened or endangered in the line of duty, I will be there for you, walang iwanan. But betray your oath and violate the law, sisiguruhin kong may kalalagyan kayo.”
