Groom, cousin shot by neighbor during wedding reception
ILOILO CITY—A wedding party turned bloody on Thursday night when an irate neighbor went on a shooting rampage, wounding the groom and killing his cousin in Cabatuan town, Iloilo.
Suspect Nori Leyso, 53, may have been irritated by the loud sound system from the groom’s house in Barangay Sulanga, Cabatuan where the wedding reception was held, said police chief, Senior Insp. Englebert Banquillo.
Guests and family members of the wedding of Rosale and Elmie Madera were stunned when Leyso suddenly entered the house and then shot Dexter Somblingo 23, and the groom, Elmie with his 12-gauge shotgun.
Leyso then escaped. He is still at large.
Both victims were brought to the Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital but were later transferred to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo.
Somblingo died from the gunshot wounds in the chest, abdomen and shoulder. Elmie, who was wounded in the body, was in stable condition.
