Interpol to help hunt for 2 Binay aides

MANILA, Philippines–Backed by the International Police (Interpol), Philippine law enforcement agencies “would not be helpless” in their hunt for the two top aides of Vice President Jejomar Binay who disappeared in the midst of a Senate inquiry into corruption charges against him, according to Malacañang.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said Sunday law enforcers “could seek the assistance of the Interpol to help track down” Binay’s finance officer, Gerardo Limlingan, and his longtime secretary, Eduviges Baloloy.

The Bureau of Immigration said it had no information that Limlingan and Baloloy were outside the country, contrary to a claim by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, but Coloma said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima could request the Department of Foreign Affairs to cancel their passports.

Enforce the law

Responding to a question from the Inquirer, Coloma told a radio talk show that the authorities were “exploring all the necessary moves to enforce the law.”
