The Visayan Electric Co. (Veco),  through its corporate social responsibility  (CSR) that focuses on education, revisited one of its beneficiaries—the Leonard Wood Elementary School (LWES) in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City—last Sept. 10.

Veco fulfilled its promise to LWES to give 150 arm chairs to address the school’s lack of chairs. Veco made the promise during the turnover of newly rehabilitated one-story, three-classroom school building to LWES last May 27.

The ceremony was witnessed by Committee on Education chairman, Mandaue City Councilor Demetrio Jun Cortes, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Virginia Zapanta, school principal Joverlie Canoy, LWES PTA President Leticia Diago, Jagobiao barangay councilor Jerry Lim and some Veco employees.

Zapanta envisioned that the children would become the assets of society, thus, their classroom learning would be beneficial for their future.

Canoy said they were happy that they were among the 47 schools in Mandaue City that received the donation.
