QC bridge closed for 5-month works; rerouting scheme out

THE CONGRESSIONAL Avenue Extension Temporary Bridge in Quezon City will be partially closed starting Monday as work starts for a stronger, permanent structure, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

In an advisory on Friday, the MMDA said the eastbound lane of the bridge, going to Luzon Avenue, would be closed first starting 9 a.m. on June 29. The Department of Public Works and Highways is expected to complete the project in five months.

The MMDA drew up the following rerouting scheme :

For eastbound vehicles
(via Tandang Sora Avenue)

1. All light vehicles coming from Mindanao Avenue, take Tandang Sora Avenue then left at Doña Robina, left at Jade Street or Viola Street, and right at Congressional Avenue Extension to destination.

2. All vehicles coming from Mindanao, take Tandang Sora, straight up to Katipunan Avenue (C-5) to destination.

3. All vehicles coming from NLEx, Quirino Highway, take Mindanao, left at North Avenue, right at Quezon Memorial Circle, then right at Commonwealth Avenue, turn right at C.P. Garcia Avenue straight to Katipunan to destination (vice versa).

4. All vehicles coming from NLEx, Quirino Highway, take Mindanao, left at Congressional, right at Visayas, right at Circle then right at Commonwealth. Turn right at C.P. Garcia straight to Katipunan to destination (vice versa).

For westbound vehicles
(via North Avenue/Quezon Memorial Circle)

1. From Katipunan straight to Tandang Sora Avenue, left at Commonwealth, right at Circle, right at North and then left at Mindanao to destination.
(via Visayas Avenue/Quezon Memorial Circle)

2. From Katipunan straight to Tandang Sora, left at Commonwealth, right at Circle, then right at Visayas Avenue, left at Congressional to Mindanao Avenue and on to destination.

3. From Fairview/Commonwealth, right at Central Avenue, right at Visayas Avenue, left at Congressional to Mindanao Avenue. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
