No date yet on resumption of PNR operations as repairs continue

There is no definite date yet on the resumption of the operations of the Philippine National Railways (PNR), its spokesman said Saturday.

Paul de Quiros, PNR spokesman, told INQUIRER.net that the repairs of the train’s tracks are still ongoing and would be finished next week.

“We will know by next week once we finish the repairs,” de Quiros said in a text message.

Earlier media reports said that the PNR was targeting to resume operations on June 15.

The PNR temporarily suspended its operations on May 5 to conduct “exhaustive inspection” on its tracks following the derailment of 2 train cars which injured several passengers.

On April 29, at least 40 passengers were injured hurt after two Philippine National Railways (PNR) train cars plying on its southbound line derailed.
