DSWD: 309k food packs readied in areas to be affected by ‘Chedeng’

A total of 309,121 food packs have been prepared by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Saturday as the country braces for typhoon “Chedeng” (international name: Maysak)

DSWD, on its Twitter account, said the packs of relief goods have been “prepositioned” and are “ready for distribution in areas that will be affected by #ChedengPH.”

It added that a quick response team was also in place, “ready for deployment to monitor/augment the conduct of preemptive evacuation procedures.”

In an earlier statement, DSWD Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman reminded that public to prepare for “Chedeng,” which is expected to make landfall in the Aurora-Isabela area on Sunday morning.

“Even if it is not a super typhoon, Chedeng is still expected to cause damage due to heavy rains and wind,” she said.

As of Friday, 28,000 food packs were prepositioned in Ilocos region, 14,215 in Cagayan Valley, 3,180 in central Luzon, 4,000 in Southern Luzon and 2,000 in Kalinga and Abra. IDL
