Storm signals up in 24 provinces as Chedeng nears Isabela-Aurora
Typhoon “Chedeng” (international name: Maysak) maintained its strength as it continues to approach the provinces of Aurora and Isabela, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Saturday.
The state weather bureau, in its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, said Chedeng’s maximum sustained winds was still at 130 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 160 kph.
The eye of the typhoon was located 625 kilometers east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora, as of 4 a.m.
It continued to move west northwest with a speed of 19 kph and is expected to make landfall over the coast of Isabela-Aurora by Sunday morning.
Residents are alerted of storm surges and waves of up to 2 meters in the eastern coast of Aurora, Quezon and Isabela.

Public storm warning signal no. 2 remained up in Catanduanes.
Signal no. 1 was raised in the following areas: Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Quezon including Polillo Island, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Cagayan, Benguet, Kalinga, Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Viscaya, Ifugao, Isabela and Mountain Province.
“Storm surges and sea surface waves of up to 2 meters are possible over the eastern coast of Aurora, Quezon and Isabela,” Pagasa said.
Fisher folks were advised not to sail over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and eastern seaboard of Bicol and Visayas. With a report from Rima Granali, Philippine Daily Inquirer
