Tropical Storm ‘Betty’ enters PAR
MANILA, Philippines–Tropical storm Betty (international name: Bavi) entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday night.
The storm maintained its strength of sustained 65 kilometers near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
It slowed down to 17 kph and moved west northwest.
The storm is expected to weaken into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, and may even become a low pressure area when it hits land on Friday near Aurora province.
Betty was last observed 1,315 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.
