Lacson wishes ‘normal life’ for accuser Mancao

MANILA, Philippines—Saying that he has already forgiven his accuser, outgoing Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said that he wishes a “normal life” for fugitive former police Senior Supt. Cezar Mancao II.

In an interview on the sidelines of the “Kapihan sa Diamond Hotel” event on Monday, Lacson said that he hopes for Mancao to live with his conscience.

“Ang dapat lang na ayusin niya ay ‘yung konsensiya (I want him to reflect on his conscience) and I hope he can live with that. I also hope that he can go back to normal life,” Lacson said.

“Napakaraming emisaryo ang pinadala niya (Mancao) sa akin. Sabi ko, hindi na kailangan kasi matagal ko na siyang pinatawad. But to exert effort and makipagkita sa kanya, maybe one day, we may also bump into each other and puwede kong i-formalize yung ginawa kong pagpapatawad,” he added.

(He sent many emissaries to (ask for forgiveness from) me. I said, I don’t need to meet them because I have long forgiven him. But to exert effort and see him, maybe one day, we may also bump into each other and I can formalize the act of forgiving him.)

The PARR exec, who will step down from his post effective February 10, shared that he has forgiven Mancao after the Lord guided his wife’s successful open heart surgery.

“All’s well that ends well,” Lacson quipped.

In his latest statement to the media, Mancao apologized for implicating Lacson and former President and now Manila City Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada in the abduction and murder of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in 2001.

Mancao said that he decided to come clean after being inspired by Pope Francis’ visit to the country last January.
