Talk about persistence.

A man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after he tried to stab his neighbor in Marikina City three times in the past five days.

The police said that Michael Cabacang, an unemployed man, attacked Algreg de los Santos with a knife around 2 p.m. on Sunday as the latter was fixing his things in a storage room beside his house in Purok 6, Barangay Malanday.

De los Santos, a garbage scavenger, escaped unhurt from all three attempts. According to PO3 Ruben Candelario, the first attempt was made on Wednesday followed by a second one at 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The victim reported the first incident but not the second, Candelario added. On his third try, the suspect was arrested in his house after De los Santos went to them to ask for help, the policeman said.

The motive of the suspect, who is out on bail following his arrest last month on a charge of illegal possession of bladed weapon, remains unclear as he refuses to talk to investigators, Candelario said.
