BOC, Army seize 6,000 sacks of smuggled rice

MANILA, Philippines – The joint forces of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Philippine Army seized 6,000 sacks of smuggled rice from a private port in Tungawan, Zamboanga, Sibugay around 2 a.m. Monday.

According to the Information Office of the BOC, the sacks of rice was inside M/L Tawi Tawi Princess.

Each sack contains 25 kilos of rice. Authorities believed that the rice came from Malaysia and entered the country via Sulu.

Investigation is ongoing to identify the consignee of the smuggled rice.
