Rainy yearend in the South

/ 06:08 AM December 28, 2014

MANILA, Philippines—The last days of 2014 will be rainy for the Visayas and parts of Mindanao as well as for the Bicol region as another low pressure area (LPA) being monitored has entered the Philippine area of responsibility, the weather bureau said.

No matter how small the chance, there remains a possibility of the LPA evolving into a tropical depression as it could still gain strength while over the ocean, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.

Should it develop into a tropical cyclone, it will be named “Seniang,” Aurelio said.

As of 4 p.m. Saturday, the LPA was estimated to be 570 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
