Queenie makes landfall in Surigao del Sur

MANILA, Philippines–Tropical depression Queenie made landfall at 6 p.m. over Tandag, Surigao del Sur, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration placed parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao under Signal No. 1.

• Palawan including the Calamian Group of Islands.

Visayas

• Southern Leyte
• Bohol
• Southern Cebu
• Negros Oriental
• Southern Negros Occidental and
• Siquijor

Mindanao

• Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island
• Surigao del Sur
• Agusan del Norte
• Agusan del Sur
• Davao del Norte
• Davao Oriental
• Compostela Valley
• Dinagat Province
• Camiguin
• Misamis Oriental
• Misamis Occidental
• Bukidnon
• Zamboanga del Norte

Residents in areas under Signal No. 1 are warned against possible flashfloods and landslides.

The tropical depression moved 24 kilometers west and was expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday evening.
