QC bazaar offers products of DSWD beneficiaries
MANILA, Philippines—Beneficiaries of the government’s poverty alleviation measures will have a chance to show—and sell—the fruits of their livelihood and skills training programs in a Christmas bazaar in Quezon City on Nov. 30.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is setting up the first-ever tiangge that features the products of individuals or families lifted from abject poverty by the agency’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) and micro-enterprise programs.
The main venue of the “PaskuJuan: Salu-Salo sa Pagbabago” will be at Araneta Center in Cubao, with corresponding events to be held in various regions across the country, according to Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman.
The DSWD chief encouraged the public to visit the daylong bazaar for their Christmas shopping. “By patronizing their products, you will be helping our beneficiaries move closer to their dreams of achieving self-sufficiency,” Soliman said in a statement Thursday.
