Did you know: National Artist for Dance Francisca Reyes-Aquino

Today, Nov. 21, is the 31st death anniversary of National Artist for Dance Francisca Reyes-Aquino. Acknowledged as a folk dance pioneer, Aquino received the Republic Award of Merit from then President Ramon Magsaysay in 1954 for her outstanding contribution to the advancement of Filipino culture. She was conferred the National Artist award in 1973. She died in 1983. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
