Former PH constabulary officer nabbed for drug peddling

MANILA, Philippines–Anti-narcotics agents arrested a dismissed member of the Philippine Constabulary (PC), forerunner of the Philippine National Police, and his cohort for drug peddling in Zamboanga City.

Habagat Wee Bas, 47, and Dennis Ammal Lee, 49, sold a sachet of shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, to an undercover agent over the weekend near Lee’s residence in Riverdale Village along Gov. Ramos Avenue.

Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director general, said Wednesday that the former PC officer got injured after he resisted the arrest.

‎”Bas leaped from the second floor window of their rented room and climbed over the shards of broken glass protruding on the neighbor’s fence,” Cacdac said.

After he was subdued by the authorities, they later brought Bas to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Four more sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia were also seized from the suspects.

In total, the confiscated packs of shabu weighed 25 grams with a street value at P40,000.

Charges for selling and possessing dangerous drugs are being prepared in court against Bas and Lee.
