Amid pending challenge, Senate subcommittee resumes Makati building probe
MANILA, Philippines—The Senate blue ribbon subcommittee resumed on Wednesday its investigation into the controversial Makati City Hall 2 parking building pending its final ruling on the jurisdictional challenge filed Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay and other individuals.
The subcommittee had earlier junked the jurisdictional challenges but Binay’s camp appealed the decision before the blue ribbon committee being headed by Senator Teofisto Guingona III.
But instead of ruling on Binay’s appeal, Guingona’s committee referred back the petition to the sub-committee, directing it to rule with finality on the issue.
Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, who heads the sub-committee, said the body might already wrap up its hearing on the parking building this Wednesday and comes up with a report before proceeding to other issues.
