One hurt as car collides with school bus in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — A car collided head-on with a school bus along Timog Avenue in Quezon City Friday morning, leaving the car driver, who admitted to being drunk, with a minor injury, a report on Radyo Inquirer 990AM said.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Gallant, Valerie Villanueva from Quezon City, with plate number WFZ 582, said she came from a bar and was on her way home when she did not notice the approaching school service moving in the opposite direction.

Erwin Villanueva, driver of the St. Theresa’s College bus, with plate number TWN 948, said that they were on their way to pick up students when he saw the car “speeding” and “swerving” before hitting his vehicle.

“We were coming from Quezon Avenue on our way to EDSA to pick up students when we suddenly saw the speeding car, swerving in the street, and then it collided with us,” Villanueva said.

The impact caused the Gallant to rotate 180 degrees and left both vehicles’ front end completely destroyed, along with their front left tires, the report said.

Valerie Villanueva was given first aid for her cut lip, the report said.
