Free veterinary services

THE Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF), together with Southwestern University-College of Veterinary Medicine, will celebrate World Rabies Day on Sept. 25 with the theme “Be a responsible pet owner, vaccinate, register and have your pets spayed and neutered for a rabies-free Cebu City.”

The celebration will be held at the Plaza Independencia from the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will include activities like free veterinary clinic, dress-up contest, look-alike contest, best neutered dog, puppy racing, agility show by K9 Care, film showing and information education campaign (IEC) on responsible pet ownership and anti-rabies management.

Another highlight is the conduct of IEC on how to handle dog bites and prevent rabies in the elementary schools in Cebu City’s barangays where there are rabies cases, such as Lahug, Guadalupe, Punta Princessa, Basak San Nicolas, Carreta, Kalunasan, Zapatera, Binaliw and Cogon Pardo.

The public is encouraged to participate and avail of free services.
