WILA to celebrate 20 years, launch 2 books
THE Women in Literary Arts (WILA)-Cebu will celebrate its 20th year as the only all-women creative writing group in the country on Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. at the Casa Gorordo Museum.
The anniversary celebration will include poetry reading and launching of two books written by WILA members.
Dubbed “Green at 20,” members will read their poems that celebrate the beauty of nature and highlight contemporary environmentalist concerns.
The event will also showcase two new books: “Tales of the Spiderwoman,” which includes the Palanca award-winning poems of the same title, by Merlie Alunan, a WILA honorary member; and “Himaya nga Nabanhaw/Reawakened Bliss,” a translation of the short stories of the late Cultural Center of the Philippines regional writer awardee Gardeopatra Quijano by Hope S. Yu and Haidee Emmie K. Palapar.
There will also be an induction of new officers and members.
