The floods in Pikit, Midsayap and Kabacan were caused by the water hyacinth supposedly blocking the Polangui River, the report said.

The report said local officials have started to work on clearing the water hyacinth from Liguasan Marsh.

In Maguindanao, 26 towns were also submerged in floods.
