Aquino leads oath-taking of PNP officials
MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III swore into office 39 officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Wednesday.
Of the 39 star rank officers who were promoted, two were Police Deputy Director Generals (PDDG), 15 were Police Directors (PDir) and 22 were Police Chief Superintendents (PCSupt).
During the minute-long oath, the police officials swore to work hard and serve the country, protect the Philippine Constitution and follow the law.
Leading the officers were PDDG Leonardo Espina and PDDG Marcelo Garbo Jr.
Espina was the former chief of the National Capital Regional Police Office until he was promoted to the fourth highest position in the PNP last year and months later became third in command. He is now the deputy chief for operations of the PNP. Meanwhile, Garbo, who replaced Espina as NCRPO head last year, was later promoted as chief of the directorial staff, the fourth highest position in the PNP.
