MANILA, Philippines—A group of truckers, importers, exporters, and custom brokers, will hold a protest action Monday at the Philippine Ports Authority compound to call for the national government to resolve port congestion due to the implementation of the truck ban in the City of Manila.

In a report over Radyo Inquirer 990 AM, Aduana Business Club, Inc. (ABCI) President Mary Zapata said that the implementation of the Manila truck ban has hindered 30 cargo vessels to unload their goods as more containers are piling up in the Port of Manila, Manila South Harbor and the Manila International Container Terminal.

Zapata added that despite ABCI’s efforts to meet with officials from Philippine Ports Authority, Bureau of Customs, Metro Manila Development Authority, Metro Manila Council, Philippine Export Zone Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board, and Malacañang since February this year, no solution has been formulated by these government agencies to curb the worsening effects to the economy of the Manila truck ban.
