Aquino right in appealing DAP ruling, online poll shows

MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 70 percent of respondents to an INQUIRER.net poll think that President Benigno Aquino III was right in appealing the Supreme Court’s decision on the Disbursement Acceleration Program.

Based on the results of an unofficial poll conducted by INQUIRER.net, 68.97 percent or 8,133 voted “Yes” to the question “Do you think President Aquino is right in appealing the SC decision on DAP?”

The poll ran from July 14 to 21 on INQUIRER.net.

Meanwhile, 31.03 percent or 3,659 did not agree to Aquino’s response to DAP.

In a televised address last Monday, July 14, Aquino criticized the SC’s unanimous declaration of DAP as unconstitutional. He defended that his spending program was a “win-win” situation for the government and the public.

He said he would appeal the decision to reverse its ruling, and urged the SC to recognize his reforms. Malacañang has filed a motion for reconsideration before the high court on its decision declaring some parts of the DAP as unconstitutional.
