Man tagged in 2011 murder of traffic cop arrested in Malabon

MANILA, Philippines — A man who was Navotas City’s most wanted for the murder of a traffic enforcer and the wounding of another in 2011 was arrested on Monday noon, police said.

Ronel O. Estoce, 25, was captured at 12:45 p.m. on No. 14 Sampaguita St., Brgy. Longos, Malabon City, police reported.

Estoce was charged with murder for allegedly shooting dead Navotas City traffic enforcer Elvis Roxas. He was also charged with frustrated murder for seriously wounding another traffic enforcer, Arthur Luzuriaga, also with a gun. The attacks happened in Agora Market, Brgy. NBBS back in 2011.

Navotas City Police chief Conrado Gongon, Jr. said a resident tipped police on where Estoce was hiding and the confidential informant was rewarded with cash by Mayor John Rey Tiangco.

Estoce’s case has been filed with the Malabon City Regional Trial Court branch 74.
