Police: Benilde bomb scare a hoax
MANILA, Philippines—A bomb scare hit De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde along Taft Avenue in Manila on Thursday afternoon.
The Manila Police District Section 9 and Benilde’s Center for Emergency Management, Safety and Security (CEMSS), however, quickly declared the threat a hoax.
Due to the bomb scare, the authorities have intensified security in the school’s vicinity.
“CEMSS has intensified its inspection procedures in all our campuses to ensure the protection of every Benildean. We are requesting for your cooperation as we carry out these extra safety measures,” CEMSS Director Lito Tabangcura said.
“We urge everyone to remain calm as CEMSS is on top of the matter. If you receive any bomb threats or messages of this nature in the future, please contact us immediately at 231 5100 local 1911 (Taft), 2911 (AKIC) or 3911 (SDA),” he added.

Article continues after this advertisementThe college earlier held a mass for hazing victims, particularly for CSB Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management student Guillo Cesar Servando who died on Saturday allegedly due to the brutal initiation rites of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity.
