3 minors used as drug couriers rescued by cops in Davao City
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Police on Wednesday rescued three minors who were used as couriers of illegal drug dealers.
First to be rescued were two boys who delivered some 25 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” to an undercover policeman in a fastfood chain inside a mall here on Wednesday evening.
In a follow-up operation, police nabbed a girl, who was carrying some 25 grams of shabu in a village in Piapi Boulevard here.
Senior Superintendent Joel Cuaton Pernito, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) regional director, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone that he has ordered all CIDG units in the region to monitor drug syndicates using minors as couriers.
Minors are protected from prosecution under the Juvenile Justice Law.
