MANILA, Philippines—Andrea Rosal, the daughter of the late communist leader Ka Roger Rosal, is seeking sanctions against jail officials who allegedly deceived a court to facilitate her transfer from a hospital back to jail, contrary to recommendations of her doctors.

In a 14-page petition, Rosal charged Taguig City’s jail warden Ellen Barrios, Jail Senior Insp. and lawyer Crisyrel Awe, a lawyer; and Jail Senior Insp. Dr. Jaime Claveria Jr., with indirect contempt for their role in hastily transferring her back to the Taguig City Jail from the Philippine General Hospital on June 4.

Maria Kristina Conti, Rosal’s lawyer, said the three had secured a court order to transfer Rosal, despite the fact that she had not yet been allowed to leave by her doctors at the PGH.

“They went beyond their scope of authority to secure a court order directing the discharge of Andrea from the hospital. This is contrary to the practice and logic that it is the doctor or hospital who discharges the patient,” Conti said in a telephone interview.
