COA’s Heidi Mendoza fails anew to get CA nod

MANILA, Philippines—Commission on Audit (COA) commissioner Heidi Mendoza failed anew on Wednesday to get the confirmation of the powerful Commission on Appointments  for lack of time.

The CA’s committtee on constitutional commissions and offices suspended the hearing without acting on Mendoza’s confirmation due to  the scheduled plenary session of the Commission at 1 p.m.

The committee will resume its hearing on Mendoza’s confirmation next week.

Before the hearing was suspended, Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada was able to fire questions at the nominee, particularly questioning her travels abroad.

But Mendoza repeatedly told the senator that her foreigns trips were not mostly shouldered by the government.

Estrada has vowed to block Mendoza’s confirmation.
