PH getting cooler as wet season nears

MANILA, Philippines— Friday in Mindanao is forecast to be a cloudy with possibility of rainshowers and thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said.

This is because of an intertropical convergence zone, a breeding ground for low pressure areas, it explained.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its early-morning bulletin.

Meanwhile the highest temperature in Metro Manila on Thursday registered at 33.6 degrees Celsius at 12 noon, a respite from the warmer temperatures in the past weeks. The onset of the wet season caused by ”habagat,: or southwest monsoon, is expected in the next two weeks.

Light to moderate winds coming from the southeast to south will prevail over Luzon and those coming from the south to southeast over the rest of the country, Pagasa said.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
